
Craig Sengelow
Composer
Craig Sengelow is an award winning composer with influences from indie rock, electronic music and western art music. Craig’s experience writing music for stage and screen includes over 30 professional productions. His 7 short films include the Oscar nominated short film Two Cars, One Night.
He was Sound Designer of the Year at the Wellington Theatre awards for Have Car will Travel and was also nominated for One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. His theatre credits include the Mega Mix of Mozart for New Zealand Opera’s production of The Marriage of Figaro and Ranterstantrum at the New Zealand Arts Festival. Craig has worked on various projects with choreographer Merenia Gray including the work Te Mana which toured New Zealand.
His most ambitious project to date is his production of TS Eliot’s The Hollow Men for cello, pianos, organ, effects, tape and narrator. He released an album Up at the Heights.
Craig has a Masters of Music (Composition) from Victoria University and studied under Ross Harris, Jack Body, David Farquhar and John Young. He won multiple awards at University including the Wellington City Council music prize. His background includes singing and playing guitar in rock bands, DJing, mixing, producing, sound recording and sound design.
